Canada Work Visa is also known as Canada work permit. Canada is an ideal destination for many foreign nationals seeking employment opportunities. This is also the first step toward permanent residency in the country. Each year, about half a million temporary foreign workers from around the world enter Canada with work permits.

Who is eligible to work in Canada?

Most foreign nationals must have a permit to work in Canada. However, there are also some exemptions from work permit.

Most candidates must obtain a Canadian job offer. This offer is supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). However, some exempted nationals don’t need an LMIA or a job offer to apply for a work permit.

For instance, they may be a recent graduate from a Canadian Designated Learning Institute (DLI) or the spouse of someone who is already on a Canada visa work or study permit.

Additionally, they must meet the following requirements and conditions:

  • Prove their intent to leave after finishing their work authorization.

  • Prove there are sufficient funds to cover them and their family in Canada and to return home.

  • Are not under any criminal or medical conditions that make them inadmissible to Canada.

  • Plan to work for an eligible employer in Canada.

  • Provide all of the required documentation that may demonstrate your eligibility to enter Canada.
